Maruti Suzuki Brezza

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza has long been one of India’s best-selling compact SUVs, and the latest facelift takes it further, with a new turbo-petrol engine, sharper styling and a much longer feature list. Marketed under the tagline “Lead Every Play,” the 2026 Brezza is priced from ₹7.40 lakh (ex-showroom), which is actually lower than the outgoing model’s starting price, thanks to the new engine option attracting a lower tax slab.

The biggest change under the hood is the addition of a new 1.0-litre Turbo Boosterjet engine, a three-cylinder unit that makes 110 PS and 170 Nm of torque, paired exclusively with a 6-speed manual gearbox. This sits alongside the familiar 1.5-litre K15C petrol engine, now offered with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic, and a factory-fitted CNG version of the same engine, offered with manual transmission only. Both the 1.0-litre turbo and 1.5-litre petrol get Maruti’s Progressive Smart Hybrid tech, which brings idle start-stop, brake energy regeneration and torque assist during acceleration, helping with both efficiency and drivability. Fuel efficiency ranges from 19.96 km/l to 21.09 km/l depending on the engine and transmission, while the CNG variant returns up to 26.90 km/kg. The CNG system is also now underbody-mounted, so it no longer eats into the boot space the way older setups did.

On the outside, the new Brezza gets a bolder front end with a redesigned grille, dark chrome accents, new precision-cut alloy wheels and dual-tone cladding, giving it more road presence than before. Higher variants also add dual-tone paint options with a bluish black roof, along with two new colours, Vivacious Orange and Lustrous Beige. At 3995 mm long, 1790 mm wide and with a 2500 mm wheelbase, it retains the compact, easy-to-park dimensions that have made it a popular city SUV.

The cabin has had a proper glow-up too. It gets dark brown and black interiors with a semi-matte, soft-touch dashboard finish, along with 64-colour ambient lighting on the top ZXi+ variant. Comfort features include an electric sunroof (ZXi and ZXi+), ventilated front seats (ZXi+), a wireless charger with active cooling (ZXi and ZXi+), auto climate control, rear AC vents and a 60:40 split rear seat. On the tech front, the Brezza now gets a large 10.1-inch SmartPlay Pro X touchscreen with built-in Alexa on the ZXi+, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an Arkamys sound system, over-the-air updates and Next Gen Suzuki Connect with e-call, giving owners remote access to features like vehicle tracking, geo-fencing and driving behaviour reports.

Safety has taken a clear step up as well, with 6 airbags now standard across the entire range, along with ESP, Hill Hold Assist, front parking sensors and a tyre pressure monitoring system. The Turbo and ZXi+ variants add blind spot warning with lane change alert, rear cross traffic alert and safe exit warning, while the ZXi+ tops it off with a 360-degree HD view camera. These upgrades have helped the new Brezza score a 5-star rating in Bharat NCAP crash tests, reinforcing its position as one of the safer options in its segment.

Overall, the new Maruti Suzuki Brezza manages to widen its appeal without straying from what made it popular in the first place. The turbo-petrol engine adds a more spirited driving option for enthusiasts, the 1.5-litre petrol and CNG variants continue to serve efficiency-focused buyers, and the much-improved feature list and safety kit bring it closer to its more expensive rivals.
