What Safety Features Does Every Honda Elevate Variant Get?

Honda Elevate has six airbags as standard

Even the base SV variant comes with a full safety kit. Here is what you get in all variants:

  • 6 airbags: Dual front airbags, front side airbags and side curtain airbags.
  • ACE body structure: Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering body, built to absorb and spread the force of an impact.
  • ABS with EBD and Brake Assist: ABS stops the wheels from locking, EBD shares braking force properly across the wheels, and Brake Assist adds braking power in an emergency.
  • Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with electronic stability and traction control: Helps keep the car stable on sharp turns and slippery roads.
  • Hill Start Assist: Stops the car from rolling back when you start on a slope.
  • Seatbelts: 3-point seatbelts for all 5 seats, front pretensioners with load limiters, and a seatbelt reminder for all 5 seats.
  • ISOFIX anchors: Lower anchors and a top tether on the rear side seats for child seats.
  • Rear parking sensors: Alert you when you reverse close to an object.
  • Emergency Stop Signal: Warns the drivers behind you when you brake hard.
  • Other basics: Engine immobiliser with security alarm, door ajar warning and a speed alarm.

What Is Honda Sensing ADAS in the Honda Elevate?

ADAS stands for Advanced Driver Assistance System. It uses sensors and a camera to watch the road and help you avoid an accident, or reduce the damage if one cannot be avoided. Honda calls its ADAS package Honda Sensing.

The Honda Elevate ADAS has these 6 features:

  • Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS): Alerts you and applies the brakes when it detects a risk of collision.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control: Speeds up and brakes by itself to keep a safe distance from the car ahead. With the CVT, you also get Low Speed Follow, which helps in stop and go traffic.
  • Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS): Keeps the car in the centre of its lane while you cruise on highways.
  • Road Departure Mitigation System: Gives audio and visual alerts and steering help when the car drifts towards the road edge.
  • Auto High-Beam: Switches between low and high beam on its own, so you get better visibility at night.
  • Lead Car Departure Notification: Alerts you when the car ahead of you starts moving, for example at a traffic signal.

Remember that Low Speed Follow is available only in CVT variants. The manual Elevate gets adaptive cruise control without it.

Honda Elevate Cameras, Parking Sensors and Connected Safety

Apart from ADAS, the Elevate has a good set of camera and parking aids. These are added step by step as you go up the variants:

  • LaneWatch camera (VX and above): Shows the left side of the car on the touchscreen, which helps when changing lanes or parking.

Does Honda Elevate ADAS Work Well on Indian Roads?

ADAS is a helpful second pair of eyes, but it has limits. Like most ADAS systems, it works best on well-marked roads in clear weather.

Lane keeping and road departure features depend on clear lane markings. They may not work as well on roads where the paint is faded or missing. Heavy rain, fog, dust on the sensors or strong glare can also reduce how well the system works.

Adaptive cruise control is most useful on highways and in steady traffic. In crowded city traffic with two-wheelers and sudden cut-ins, you should stay alert and be ready to take control.

Honda itself says that Honda Sensing cannot replace the driver’s attention and judgement. Treat it as a support system, and always follow traffic rules.
