Hyundai Motor India Q2 FY27: Record 2.19 Lakh Sales and Rs 20,000 Crore Revenue, But Profit Falls

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has reported its best-ever quarterly sales for July-September 2026. Quarterly revenue also crossed Rs 20,000 crore for the first time since the company started operations in India. Profit, however, was lower than last year because of high commodity costs.
The Board approved the unaudited standalone and consolidated results for Q2 and H1 of FY 2026-27 on 28 October 2026 in Gurugram.

Highest-ever quarterly sales
HMIL sold 219,072 units in the quarter, a record for the company. That is 15% higher than a year ago and 23% higher than the previous quarter (Q1 FY27).
Domestic sales and CNG share
Domestic volumes grew 19% both year-on-year and quarter-on-quarter. Two numbers stand out:
- Rural share: rural penetration reached an all-time high of 26.6%.
- CNG share: CNG made up 19.1% of sales, the highest CNG contribution in any quarter for the company.
Exports
Exports grew 4% year-on-year and 38% quarter-on-quarter, despite geopolitical challenges. The export figure includes both CBU and CKD units.
Revenue is up, profit is down
Revenue rose about 19% over last year, and about 27% over the previous quarter. Profit tells a different story.
- EBITDA fell about 19% year-on-year. The margin dropped from 13.9% to 9.5%, but it improved slightly from 9.3% in Q1 FY27.
- Net profit fell about 24% year-on-year, from Rs 1,572 crore to Rs 1,196 crore. Compared with Q1 FY27, it was up about 35%.
The company said commodity headwinds hurt profitability. It added that operating leverage, a healthy product mix and cost reduction initiatives helped the margin improve from the previous quarter.
H1 FY27 (April-September)
| Metric | H1 FY27 | H1 FY26 |
| Revenue | Rs 37,031 crore | Rs 33,874 crore |
| EBITDA | Rs 3,486 crore | Rs 4,614 crore |
| EBITDA margin | 9.4% | 13.6% |
| Net profit (PAT) | Rs 2,085 crore | Rs 2,942 crore |
Over the first half, revenue grew about 9%, but EBITDA fell about 24% and net profit fell about 29%.
Bayon and a new mass-market EV ahead
The company called the Bayon the start of its “golden product cycle” and said the response has been encouraging. HMIL is also ready to launch a dedicated mass-market EV in Q4 FY27 (January-March 2027).
Managing Director and CEO Tarun Garg described Q2 as a milestone quarter with record volumes and revenue, but said high commodity costs weighed on profit. He expects H2 to bring faster momentum, though he noted that economic uncertainty and cost pressure remain.
What this means for car buyers
The numbers show strong demand for Hyundai cars, especially CNG models and sales in rural areas. The company did not announce any price changes in the release, and it gave no details of the upcoming EV such as name, price or range.
