Tata AERIS Variants Explained: Smart, Pure, Pure+, Creative and Accomplished

Tata Aeris variants explained

The Tata AERIS is available in five main variants: Smart, Pure, Pure+, Creative and Accomplished. Buyers can choose between a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a factory-fitted iCNG powertrain, while most variants are available with both a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT.

In total, the AERIS is offered in 18 individual powertrain and transmission combinations. Prices currently range from ₹5.30 lakh to ₹9.75 lakh ex-showroom in Delhi.

The main question, therefore, is not just which AERIS variant is the cheapest. It is which variant gives you the features you actually need without paying for equipment you may not use.

Tata AERIS Variants and Prices

The following are the current ex-showroom Delhi prices:

VariantPetrol MTPetrol AMTCNG MTCNG AMT
Smart₹5.30 lakh—₹6.30 lakh—
Pure₹6.15 lakh₹6.70 lakh₹7.15 lakh₹7.70 lakh
Pure+₹6.75 lakh₹7.30 lakh₹7.75 lakh₹8.30 lakh
Creative₹7.50 lakh₹8.05 lakh₹8.50 lakh₹9.05 lakh
Accomplished₹8.20 lakh₹8.75 lakh₹9.20 lakh₹9.75 lakh

Prices are ex-showroom Delhi and are subject to change.

The Smart is the only variant that does not get an AMT option. It is available with the petrol and CNG powertrains, both with a 5-speed manual gearbox. From Pure onwards, buyers can choose between petrol or CNG and manual or AMT.

Tata AERIS Smart

The Smart is the entry-level AERIS variant and is available with both petrol and CNG powertrains.

The petrol Smart MT costs ₹5.30 lakh, while the Smart CNG MT costs ₹6.30 lakh ex-showroom Delhi.

Despite being the base variant, the Smart gets a solid safety package: six airbags, ISOFIX child-seat anchors, ABS with EBD and CSC, three-point ELR seat belts with reminders for all seats, and rear parking sensors.

Other equipment includes:

  • 12.7 cm digital island cluster
  • Sportluxe two-spoke steering wheel
  • Premium dual-tone interior theme
  • Premium melange fabric under-thigh support on the front seats
  • Halo lightbar connected tail lamps
  • Tilt steering
  • Rear seat headrests
  • Manual HVAC (air conditioning)
  • R14 steel wheels

The Smart gets the 1.2-litre Revotron engine and a 5-speed manual transmission. It has no infotainment system or speakers.

Should you buy the Smart?

The Smart makes sense if price is your primary consideration and you want the AERIS’s core safety equipment without moving too far up the range.

However, it misses many everyday convenience features that arrive on the Pure and above, including power windows on all four doors, electrically adjustable mirrors and a height-adjustable driver’s seat. Buyers looking for an automatic will also have to move up to the Pure.

Tata AERIS Pure

The Pure sits one step above the Smart and starts at ₹6.15 lakh for the petrol manual. The petrol AMT costs ₹6.70 lakh, while the CNG versions cost ₹7.15 lakh for the manual and ₹7.70 lakh for the AMT.

The Pure adds useful everyday equipment over the Smart, including:

  • All four power windows
  • Electrically adjustable ORVMs with turn indicators
  • Height-adjustable driver’s seat
  • Day/night IRVM
  • 12.7 cm digital island cluster with inbuilt Bluetooth audio (BYOD, i.e. bring your own device)
  • Two speakers
  • Steering-mounted audio controls
  • Speed-sensitive auto door locks
  • Central locking with flip key
  • Rear defogger
  • Follow-me-home headlamps
  • ZipFast Type-A and Type-C 15W charger
  • R14 full wheel covers
  • Body-coloured door handles

Note that the Pure does not get a touchscreen. Audio is played through your own phone via Bluetooth. Rear AC vents, a reverse camera, ESP and cruise control are also not available at this level.

Should you buy the Pure?

The Pure is worth considering if you want an automatic gearbox and the basic convenience features (power windows, adjustable mirrors, height-adjustable driver’s seat) at a low price, and you are happy to use your phone for music and navigation.

Tata AERIS Pure+

The Pure+ starts at ₹6.75 lakh for the petrol manual and goes up to ₹8.30 lakh for the CNG AMT.

This is where the AERIS’s feature list takes a big step up. The key additions over the Pure include:

  • 20.32 cm floating touchscreen infotainment with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Four speakers
  • HD reverse parking camera
  • Rear AC vents
  • Rear centre armrest with cupholders
  • ZipFast front Type-C 65W charger
  • Cruise control (not available on the CNG AMT)
  • Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with traction control
  • Hill Hold Control
  • Intelligent Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (iTPMS)
  • Fabric-touch front armrest with storage
  • Shark-fin antenna with GPS
  • Vanity mirror on the co-driver side
  • R15 Dynamic Hyperstyle wheels on petrol versions
  • R14 Dynamic Hyperstyle wheels on CNG versions

Should you buy the Pure+?

The Pure+ is worth considering if you want a proper infotainment system, wireless smartphone connectivity, a reverse camera, rear AC vents and the stability and tyre-pressure systems without moving up to Creative pricing.

Pure+ is priced ₹60,000 above the equivalent Pure petrol manual, which is a modest premium for the amount of equipment added.

Tata AERIS Creative

The Creative is the first AERIS variant where the equipment list becomes substantially more premium.

Prices start at ₹7.50 lakh for the petrol MT and go up to ₹9.05 lakh for the CNG AMT.

The Creative adds:

  • 26.03 cm Ultra View HD touchscreen infotainment
  • 360-degree SVS HD camera with multiple 2D/3D views
  • Blind view monitor
  • Fully automatic temperature control (FATC)
  • Auto headlamps and rain-sensing wipers
  • Signature LED headlamps and DRLs
  • Infinity LED connected tail lamps
  • Two additional tweeters (six speakers in total)
  • One-shot-down driver-side window
  • Passive entry and passive start (PEPS)
  • Auto-fold ORVMs
  • Cooled glovebox
  • Chrome door handles
  • R15 Diamond Aero alloy wheels on petrol
  • R14 Dynamic Hyperstyle wheels on CNG

The larger touchscreen, 360-degree camera, automatic climate control and keyless entry with push-button start are probably the most significant reasons to consider this variant. The camera system should make parking and manoeuvring in tight spaces easier.

Should you buy the Creative?

The Creative looks like one of the more interesting variants in the AERIS range if you want a better infotainment system, 360-degree camera, automatic climate control and a more premium exterior without paying for the fully loaded Accomplished.

It is also available with petrol or CNG and with either manual or AMT transmission.

Tata AERIS Accomplished

The Accomplished is the top-spec AERIS variant.

It starts at ₹8.20 lakh for the petrol MT and goes up to ₹9.75 lakh for the CNG AMT.

The Accomplished adds several premium features, including:

  • AeroLux front ventilated leatherette seats
  • LuxTouch leatherette seats
  • Dual smartphone deck with wireless charger
  • Dashcam recorder (DVR)
  • Soft-touch leatherette front armrest with storage
  • ZipFast 65W rear Type-C charger and USB charger
  • LED fog lamps
  • iRA connectivity with 35+ connected-car features
  • Dual-tone black roof
  • Front seats with adjustable headrests
  • iToggle window control
  • Chrome waistline
  • Magazine pockets

Ventilated leatherette seats, wireless charging, the dashcam recorder and connected-car features are among the Accomplished’s key additions.

Should you buy the Accomplished?

The Accomplished makes sense for buyers who want the maximum equipment available in the AERIS.

The biggest additions are not just cosmetic. Features such as ventilated front seats, a dashcam, wireless charging and connected-car technology can make a difference to everyday use.

However, it costs ₹70,000 more than the equivalent Creative petrol manual, so buyers should decide whether these extras justify the upgrade.

Which Tata AERIS Variant Is the Best?

There is no single answer because the best variant depends on your budget and powertrain preference.

Best for a tight budget: Smart The Smart gives you the six-airbag AERIS package at the lowest price. It is also available with CNG.

Best budget automatic: Pure The Pure adds power windows, adjustable mirrors, a height-adjustable driver’s seat and Bluetooth audio, and it is the cheapest way to get an AMT. Keep in mind it has no touchscreen.

Best everyday value: Pure+ The Pure+ is where the touchscreen, wireless CarPlay/Android Auto, reverse camera, rear AC vents, ESP, hill hold and cruise control arrive, for ₹60,000 more than the Pure.

Best feature-value option: Creative The Creative is arguably the most interesting variant if you want the 26.03 cm touchscreen, 360-degree camera, automatic climate control and keyless entry without going all the way to the top-spec Accomplished.

Best-equipped: Accomplished The Accomplished is for buyers who want the full AERIS experience, including ventilated front seats, wireless charging, dashcam and connected-car features.

Tata AERIS Variant-Wise Powertrain Options

One of the AERIS’s biggest advantages is the number of powertrain combinations available.

The 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine produces 86 PS and 113 Nm, while the iCNG version produces 75.5 PS and 96.5 Nm. Both are paired with a 5-speed manual or AMT, except that the Smart does not get an AMT option.

The iCNG versions use a twin-cylinder layout with both tanks under the boot floor, which keeps the boot space usable. The CNG versions also start directly on CNG rather than petrol.

This gives buyers considerable flexibility. If you want an AMT CNG AERIS, for example, you can choose from Pure, Pure+, Creative or Accomplished. The Smart is restricted to manual transmission.

Tata AERIS: Which Variant Should You Choose?

For most buyers, the decision is likely to come down to Pure+ or Creative.

The Smart is primarily for buyers looking to keep the purchase price low. The Pure adds basic convenience and an AMT option, but no touchscreen. Pure+ brings the infotainment system, reverse camera, rear AC vents and ESP, while Creative adds the larger touchscreen, 360-degree camera and automatic climate control.

The Accomplished is the most feature-loaded option, but not every buyer will need its additional premium features.

If you are choosing an AERIS specifically for CNG and lower running costs, it is worth comparing the price difference between the CNG versions of Pure, Pure+ and Creative before deciding. Note that cruise control is not available on the CNG AMT.

Tata AERIS Variant Price Summary

  • Smart: ₹5.30 lakh to ₹6.30 lakh

  • Pure+: ₹6.75 lakh to ₹8.30 lakh
